Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers about how Inkso works — especially your privacy.

Is Inkso free?

Yes — Inkso is completely free. There's no sign-up, no trial, no watermark, and no paywall when you download your file. It's kept free by a few unobtrusive ads and the occasional coffee from people who find it useful.

Are my files private? Are they stored?

Completely private. Inkso runs entirely in your browser — your files are never uploaded to us or to any server. We don't see, receive, collect, or store the documents you open or the edits you make.

The only copies that exist stay on your own device: an optional local recovery copy your browser keeps so you don't lose your work. That copy never leaves your computer, and you control it.

Are my files used for AI training?

No. Because your files never leave your device, they can't be — and aren't — used for AI training, analytics, or anything else. We have no access to them whatsoever.

Can I delete my files immediately?

There's nothing for us to delete, because we never receive your files in the first place. On your device, your document and edits disappear the moment you close the tab — unless you've downloaded or saved the result yourself.

If you used a feature that keeps a local recovery copy, you can clear it any time by choosing New, dismissing the recovery prompt, or clearing your browser data.

Does Inkso work on mobile devices?

Yes. Inkso works in modern mobile browsers on phones and tablets, and the layout adapts to small screens. Editing, signing, reviewing, drawing and downloading all work on mobile.

A couple of advanced touches — like picking a specific save folder — and the best performance on very large files are smoothest on a desktop browser.

What file formats are supported?
  • PDF editor: open and edit PDF files, and download the result as a PDF.
  • Word Editor: write a document and save it as Word (.docx) or PDF, open existing .docx files, and insert pictures (JPG, PNG, and similar).

The old binary .doc format isn't supported — please use .docx.

Is there a file size limit?

Inkso doesn't impose a file-size limit, because everything is processed on your own device rather than uploaded to a server. The practical limit is your device's memory.

Most everyday documents work smoothly. Very large or complex files may open or save more slowly, especially on older phones.
